Bio and Artist Statement:

My name is Carlos A. “Los” Rivera. I was born in Passaic County, New Jersey, then raised in Connecticut where I did most of my education. During my childhood I spent a lot of time drawing, making random props for scenes and skits where my sister and I would perform for our parents. These hobbies stuck throughout high school and into college where I would further pursue a degree in Digital Media and design to explore the world of production, theatre and television.

Since an early age I have always enjoyed television, studied it, and searched for meaningful stories. I find inspiration in film and television as well as my other media outlets: reading, music, social observation. I enjoy taking my surroundings and immortalizing them through photography, videography, sketches or digital remakes. Since I have so many artistic hobbies it was certain what I wanted to do in my life. So, for years I have pursued film and animation, it is this desired career path that I will continue to work towards for years to come. 

During my college years I have produced videos for two internships, a handful of animations for my 2D and 3D classes, and a handful of digital designs. For my senior project I have put together a 2D animated pilot for a sci-fi fantasy TV show. The show covers drama; magic; life, death, and spirituality. I like to make the best of my art, not milk it, otherwise I don’t see it as artistic to do the same thing over and over again.

I would summarize my work as conceptually psychedelic as well as simplicity noir, with bright and saturated colors or black in on white paper, new and different designs, ever changing and realities on paper or screen based on my ever changing perspective.

Project Statement: 

​

"Out of Time" is a trailer to the story and world of Mount Tolkien. A land where magic and fantasy combine and limits are tested. Focused primarily on the characters Nomad and Shado (our hero and villain.) The world is full of chaos and disorder, only a select few know the truth and have the power to fix the world. Nomad wants to right the wrongs that a power hungry Shado has set into action.

 

The beginning of the series would focus on their story before diving into the origins of the world's magic. Friends will be made, secrets revealed as the past uncovers itself. This isn't a regular kids show where "friendship is the answer" and everyone lives. The world is fantasy where anything can happen and where only the new age characters will survive.
